Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Robert D. MacCurdy Memorial Scholarship is given each year to deserving applicants from Massachusetts and New England who plan to study the Scottish Arts.
The Scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Robert D. MacCurdy the founder and first Chieftain of the St. Andrew’s Society of Bridgewater now named the St. Andrew’s Society of Massachusetts.
Dr. MacCurdy was born in 1914. He did Undergraduate work at the University of Massachusetts and received a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. He received a Doctorate from Boston University in 1954. He served as a professor at Bridgewater State College where he retired in 1984 and was named Professor Emeritus in Science Education.
Dr. MacCurdy died in 1984 and left a legacy that continues
today. We are grateful to Dr. MacCurdy and the other founding members of the
Society for their dedication in keeping the Scottish Arts alive in
Massachusetts.
